My life has been saturated with babies since I moved to this new town — baby birds, baby dog, and now five new baby trees. Hmm… are these hints of some sort? Of course not! I just wanted to beat you to the punch.
Thanks to my horticulture expert of a mother who cannot stand the sight of an absolutely bare yard without dying a little inside, I have five living crape myrtles along my back fence with bright pink blossoms. She and her husband were kind enough to gift these trees to us as a graduation/housewarming gesture, drive them down to our home, and help us plant them in still, humid, 95°+ temperature. And now that I look out my back windows to these lovely pink trees, I can’t help but begin scheming as to what I should do for the rest of my yard; and by scheming, I mean saying to my mother, “So I’m thinking maybe doing a little bit of something pretty right around here… what do you think would look good there?”
Stay tuned for my upcoming “Name That Tree” post. You won’t want to miss it, believe me. And you’ll never guess what it will actually entail. Prepare to be stunned.
