Obligatory Thanksgiving Post

We had a really quiet Thanksgiving at home this year. My mom & her husband Tom came down from Dallas to have dinner with us, & my mom worked really hard getting tons of food homemade for us. I hung out with her, did dishes, got her ingredients & supplies, & helped with rolls, but was otherwise pretty useless unfortunately. I’m typically pretty useless in a kitchen though.

Turk had never seen so much action going on in the kitchen. He was pretty excited by all the good smells. My mom was pretty surprised how few leftovers there were. For only four people, we managed to stuff our faces pretty impressively. (I say four, but I mean three since my mom wasn’t the one making the food disappear so quickly.) (Oh wait, I’m still going to say four and count the baby as the 5th member of our Thanksgiving meal.)

I really didn’t get any photos at all. I took that one of Turk, and Justin took this one of me.

Don’t I look lovely, huge and over 8 1/2 months pregnant, chillin’ in my husband’s NOFX hoodie and thrift store sweatpants I bought for a White Trash party my friends & I threw a few years ago? I thought so. And just ignore the hand between my thighs. I’m not sure what I’m doing there but I must say it’s highly attractive.

After dinner and naps, my mom & I set up my Christmas tree and decorations, and even though I’m pretty sure I did this last year as well, I couldn’t resist taking a photo of one of my favorite ornaments on my tree.

Yes, I’m an adult. Why do you ask?

We also got a few other projects done, like sewing curtains for the babies room (photos to come once the room’s complete).

Things with the baby are good. I went to the doctor yesterday, and there’s no real progress going on, but it could happen anytime now. My doc decided to take a vacation next weekend, the weekend of my due date, and I’m pretty depressed about that because I love my doctor & it would just be my luck to go into labor while she’s gone. She offered to induce me on Monday, Nov. 30th, but I said noooo thank you. I’ll just risk it & wait it out.

Now that I’m done with work for the most part, I’m ready for her to come at any point and feeling much less anxious about the whole thing. In fact, I’m feeling — dare I say it? — excited.

I can’t believe you’re due date is one week! It seems like just yesterday you posted that you were expecting. Glad to hear you had a great Thanksgiving.

You are so funny Shannon! And I love that pic of you in your husband’s hoodie. I wore Jakes hoodie almost everyday during the last month of both pregnancies. The sad part is that I’m pretty sure I stretched it out!

Looks like you guys had a great Thanksgiving dinner and gathering. Sorry we missed you guys at Tom’s this year. It is exciting that your baby is so close. I have my first final on your due date (Dec. 7th). So I’m hoping you’re 1-1/2 weeks late! :o)
