This Christmas was a really quiet one for us this year. Justin only had Christmas Day off, and we were planning on going to Dallas in the afternoon of Christmas Eve and then driving back the afternoon of Christmas Day.
Unfortunately, there were several road blocks. First, my sister who is visiting in Dallas got sick, so we didn’t want to expose our two-week-old to that. Then there was bad weather — snow & ice — and we had no way of knowing how bad it would be or how long it would take us to get to Dallas. The trip is usually 2.5 hours, but with traffic and bad weather, who knows how long it would’ve taken? And that wouldn’t have been fun traveling with someone who needs to eat for 30 minutes every 2.5 hours (referring to the baby there — I know it’s confusing with Justin & I in the family as well).
I procrastinated for hours trying to decide what we should do, and after so much time had passed, it no longer made sense to try and drive up there. So we decided to stay home and do our own thing this Christmas and visit with family later on in the week. As it turns out, I think we made a good decision to just stay home, hearing about all the car accidents in Dallas last night.
As much as I missed having Christmas with my family, I really enjoyed our quiet little Christmas at home, watching Christmas movies, making our own dinner, cuddling with our baby, and just relaxing on the one day off Justin actually got.

How could I resist putting her in a cute little Christmas outfit? I couldn’t.

You can tell it really is Christmas morning… check out that bed-head!

We didn’t have a lot of money this year to spend on each other, so we kept the presents to an absolute minimum. I got Justin new clothes, which he desperately needed, and he got me a few movies, something for my computer & camera, and a plush bath robe. I was shocked to get the bath robe because it was something I mentioned once about 4 – 6 months ago that I wanted for Christmas. I couldn’t believe he actually remembered! Impressive! It was so soft, I had to pose the baby on it for some pictures.

Ruffle-butt!

That last one is my favorite. Isn’t that so adorable??
Hope your Christmas was as relaxing and enjoyable as ours was!
