I am so in love with my little family – Justin, this sweet little girl, and of course the Turkledog who continues to be an awesome dog (don’t be surprised if you check back later today & see a special Valentine from him too!).
Justin and I aren’t great about traditional romanticism because we tend to be over-the-top cheesy and sweet to each other every day, so an expensive meal out just feels like a lot of money leaving the bank account. But I still like Valentine’s Day and seeing all the cheesiness spread across the web, even if it is a fake holiday.
Hope you have a great Valentine’s Day, whether it’s romantic, out with girlfriends in an anti-Valentine’s celebration, or at home doing what you always do.
Here are a few things I am loving lately, in no particular order other than when they pop into my head:
- Hearing my husband say “I love you” to our baby when he thinks I’m out of earshot.
- Experimenting with photography techniques and seeing improvements in my work (like today – see above).
- Seeing this little girl smile and start kicking her legs in excitement when she sees me walking up to her or hears me talking to her.
- Giving Turk a bath last night after he got all muddy. At first, I was annoyed but then I had a lot of fun spending some quality time with my other ‘baby’.
- Diet Dr. Pepper Caffeine Free – the only caffeine free diet soda that doesn’t taste funky.
- Last Sunday morning’s nap – my husband next to me, my 2-month-old cuddled on the top half of me, my dog cuddled on the bottom half of me. Doesn’t get any better than that.
- Suctioning out baby boogers. Helps my baby breathe better, but there’s also some bizarre satisfaction that comes with yanking out a huge booger from such a little space.
- Dirty Jobs. I’m obsessed.
- Reviewing my photo shoots from last year and remembering how much I love what I do, and that starting this week I’ll get to do it again, this time not eight months pregnant though!
- Knowing that my husband doesn’t participate in generally accepted bad male behavior, like checking out other women when his wife’s not there, even if her body is now the proud owner of many, many new stretch marks.

oh snap i have such a cute niece!
I love those panda feet. Jack had some that were ducks & I always got a kick out of how he’d tap his foot while he ate. He also had some that were Pooh Bear, I could help but refer to them as “his bear feet”. Ohh, ohhh!
Love your list. She is looking great and I hope you continue to grow and enjoy your work as a photographer. Sorry to miss you Thursday afternoon, but between the timing and weather, it wasn’t a real match. I’m glad I got home when I did.
I’ve been waiting and waiting for Turk’s valentine…but maybe he just doesn’t love me as much as I thought.
Well, Bdawg, I didn’t think I needed to say anything, but…..
