About

I am Shannon. I am 25-years-old and living in Central Texas with my husband, Justin, our brand new daughter (born in December ’09), and our dog, Turk while my husband completes his surgical training for the next four years. I am a portrait photographer, and you can see my professional work at Shannon Hunt Photography, but I use this space to post daily and personal photos as well.

We moved here the summer of 2008 after both graduating from Ohio State University – me, with a BA in English and him, from medical school. Having grown up in Dallas, the move back south felt like coming home, where “home” is a barren flatland that enjoys torturing its inhabitants with 80° weather in the middle of November. Needless to say, I miss the seasons of the north, but the benefits of being around my family again and watching my three nephews grow up far outweigh my hatred of the humid heat… most days.

I like Diet Coke, Swedish fish, Chili’s chips and queso, this fantastic little Mom and Pop hamburger joint nearby where the workers don’t wear gloves, photography, writing, Ben Folds, sarcasm, hoodies, cold weather, Chuck Taylors (in black or charcoal only), black nail polish, hair appointments, and people I can banter with. Staying home and eating ice cream while watching movies or TV shows with my husband is at the very top of my list of favorite things to do.

My favorite TV shows are Seinfeld, Sex and the City, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Arrested Development, Gilmore Girls, South Park, Flight of the Conchords, and It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

I dislike small talk, every character in Grey’s Anatomy, people who believe that there is only one acceptable political or religious viewpoint on the planet and it’s theirs, mustard and most products in the “condiment” category, growing up, events that have a dress code above “business casual,” shopping for clothes, trendy kid lit, writing one page bios that are supposed to sum up who I am when I would probably write something different on any given day (hence, the daily blog posts), and fast food places putting too much ice in my drinks.

I feel like I am in a perpetual state of soul-searching.
