If you’re not used to high excitement, I recommend moving away from this blog slowly. Seriously, it’s going to blow your mind with the high thrills you’re about to experience.

I got a new camera this week and a couple new fancy lenses so I’ve been trying to get as comfortable with everything as I can before my next session on Friday. The problem comes when I lead a life that basically consists of me not doing much worth photographing. So I decided to take pictures of the unexciting because I need to just get my fingers used to new settings so I can be as fast on my new one as on my old one.

I’m way too lazy to edit these and I wasn’t paying attention to composition or lighting or anything so they’re just quick snapshots, but I figured I’d include them anyway.

My first tulip blooming! This is what it looked like yesterday.

The rest of these are from today! This orange one wasn’t even budding yesterday afternoon. These bloom so fast. I hate to say it, Mom, but my pansies aren’t doing well at all. They’ve been getting water but it looks like they got eaten again.

This is how you make a fish eye photo when you don’t have a fish eye lens but you do have a baby toy with a convex mirror on it. Heh heh.

I know I haven’t been around much. I’ve been extremely busy with work stuff but nothing too thrilling to report to the masses I suppose. The baby in this house (I know, it could be anyone’s guess who I’m referring to here) has decided to quit sleeping through the night. She’ll sleep through one feeding (the one that happens before I typically even go to sleep) so I’m back to those exciting 3AM feedings.

Good thing she’s cute, especially since she’s been having a higher than normal blow-out diaper rate. It might be time to move up sizes on diapers but I’m procrastinating because I need to buy new supplies in medium. Guess I’d better get on that. One of these days she just ain’t gonna fit and that day will not be fun if I’m not prepared.

(P.S. No retouching on that photo. Her cheeks really are that soft and smooth. Mmm, so kissable.)

Sigh. I’m so in love with this baby, so in love with this lens… In fact you might just want to stay away from me for a while or I might just fall in love with you too. I’m very vulnerable right now.

Perfect. Just perfect. This could possibly be my favorite photo I’ve ever taken. I love it so much I want to enlarge it as large as I can and hang it on every wall in my house. It’s so timeless and sweet.

Even better, it’s my family.

I’ll tell you what no one told me about falling in love with your baby, or maybe they did and I just wasn’t listening: it feels so much like falling in love in general: the butterflies, the excitement to see them, the emptiness you feel when you’re away from them, all of it (except the romance part of course cuz that’s just creepy). I just am falling deeper and deeper in love with this kid, I can’t believe it.

Classic raspberries on the belly. What dad hasn’t done this to their child? I tend to just kiss her belly.

This is her trademark position. She loves putting her arms above her head, preferably her left, when she’s lying down, sleeping, breastfeeding, getting a diaper change, pretty much all the time.

Check out those arms rolls! She just keeps getting more and more. It’s great.

This photo was way more difficult to get than it looks. Turk doesn’t tend to play tug-o-war with me because I trained him to drop his rope for me instead, so to get him to hold on for this shot while trying to get a sharp photo with the focus where I wanted it was a bit of a challenge. I like how it turned out though.

I love these pajamas with the blue teddy bears. You may be thinking to yourself, it looks like she bought those in the boys’ department, and to that I would say, so what if I did. The teddy bears were just too cute, I couldn’t resist. Besides, sociologically you’re not supposed to steer your children towards gender colors and toys. I’m just trying to be sociologically correct. So there.

She’s 11 weeks old now but has already grown out of most of her 3 month old clothes. I can’t believe holding up her 3 – 6 month clothes that she can fit in them already, but she does. It’s fun, but sad at the same time. She’s just growing up too fast.

Me: [talking sweet to Turk] See? He likes sugar better than vinegar. How does that saying go?

Justin: You attract more bees with honey than you do with vinegar. Except that you don’t. You attract more bees with pollen.

Me: Right. Cuz bees make honey.

Justin: What would you attract with honey? Bears?

Me: But why would you want to attract bears?

Justin: Hmmm.
